Disable the Nvme drive in the BIOS

  • Hi All,
Is it possible to disable the Nvme drive in the BIOS? Instead of removing it when installing a different OS on USB/SSD drive.

I have been through the BIOS disabling possible settings but on reboot, the Nvme drive is still active and visible to other OS installers.

If possible which BIOS setting needs changing. I have been able to do this in the past on other hardware for SSD's to prevent boot loader issues.

    I have a Trigkey S5 AMD Ryzen 7 5700U. BIOS Ver - 2.22.1282.

    Thanks.

  • Hi All,

Got a reply from Trigkey support. It's a NO, there is no setting to disable the M.2 Nvme drive in the BIOS. looking on other forums, it is very hit or miss if this is available on different motherboards. So I now have only 2 options for my use case as I require the USB-C for other uses,
1, Extend the M.2 slot externally, so not have to un-mout and open up  the Trigkey S5 every time I'm working with a 2nd OS on a different drive.
    2, Buy a 2nd system.

    Both not great.
