How can you enable WOL in 5560U to save power and wake remotely?

  • I am attempting to save power and sleep my new S5 5560U when it isn't doing anything. I am unable to find any options which result in the Ethernet port maintaining power (and the ability to respond to the WOL magic packet). Can anyone please advise what particular settings are required to achieve this?

I am atttemping this within a clean Linux Mint 21 installation (I just replaced the original SSD ) which is working fine except for the WOL. I can wake it on keyboard press as well as the power button. But I am unable to find anything that seems to keep the NIC lights on. I can confirm that the NIC is reporting that it will wake on "g" (Magic Packet).

  • With Windows 11: Double-click the Network Adapters device type, and then right-click Realtek PCIe GbE Family Controller. Click Properties. On the Advanced tab, select the Shutdown Wake-On-Lan property, and then select Enabled or Disabled in the Value field. Click OK.

With Linux Mint 21, ask the question on a forum dedicated to this OS! And above all, share your solutions. Thank you.
