Fan always running

  • I bought a G4 with N100 and 16GB Ram.

The Fan is always running even with no load and good temperatures.
Is there any configuration to apply?

In the current state, I will return the product to amazon.

  • Same.

In the bios you can adjust the fans in Advanced> Hardware Monitor> Smart Fan and set a treshhold before they start spinning.

But you can only trade constant spinning with regular high spinning/silence circles.

    So this is kinda pointless.

The main problem is that this cpu takes more power than it was advertised for, 10W says my power meter, thats twice than the last generation.

There is just no way this thing can stay silent when burning 10W constantly.

And the fan being a supper annoying loud design is not helping either.

I am also unsure to either send it back or to simply cut a better airhole in the case.

In either case the n100 is a dispointment.

  • 您好,我是TRIGKEY的运营人员,很遗憾您碰上这样的问题。风扇的噪音问题可以通过BIOS自己配置的,我会附上教程。https://kdocs.cn/l/cvXGEjRaXUsW

  • @Jane Doyle Is the 10W for the processor alone? I assume SSD and RAM also needs some power, and maybe you're also measuring some inefficiency of the power supply? For the record, the N100 is rated at 6W.

  • Is there a solution to this?

When I run in smart mode it appears to run the fan at a constant rate.

I've had to use a third party tool to control the fan for now but it seems strange.
